THE FUTURE

So, It's that time of year again. The time when every website and its brother collates 'Best of the Year' lists, and 'Things to look forward to next year' lists. Being someone who takes great pleasure in going against the grain and being 'different', you may think that I would refrain from jumping on that particular bandwagon. However, you'd be wrong. I am going to be lame and unoriginal and throw my unwanted opinions into the already overcrowded mix. The reason being that there are a number of things that I am very much looking forward to next year. And when I say 'things', I mainly mean 'movies'...

'Things' I am Looking Forward To Seeing In 2012:

The Avengers - 'Nuff said.

The Expendebles 2 - It will probably suck, I know, but I really don't care!

American Reunion - Again, It will probably suck but I really don't care! If I go in with zero expectations I can't be disappointed, right? Well, that's what my your girlfriend says! Say whaaaaat?!?

The Future - Miranda July's 2005 debut feature You And Me And Everyone We Know was an odd little film. July's quirkiness can be endearing but can also verge on annoying. Very annoying at times. Fingers crossed she has toned it down in The Future.

Young Adult - From Juno writer Diablo Cody; another hit and miss writer that tries too hard to be quirky. The good thing about Young Adult is that it is directed by Jason Reitman, who also directed Juno. Reviews have called it an 'anti-coming-of-age' story... sounds like my kinda film.

You're Next - I love me a home invasion horror thriller. Reviews call it a mix between The Strangers, Scream and Home Alone ... I'm sold!

The Innkeepers - Ti West is a bad ass horror director. The House of the Devil was creepy and weird and starred Greta Gerwig rocking an 80s perm. I'm excited to see any movie that Ti West makes.

Knights of Badassdom - The new flick from Joe motherfuckin' Lynch (of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End fame). I don't care what it's about, all I know is that Joe Lynch retweeted me once. That means we're like best friends, fo' life.
Sup, Joe?

Grand Street - Damn right I'm looking forward to seeing this movie! I just backed it on Kickstarter to help with post-production costs. I get a signed DVD from the writer/director. Its a romance story that takes place in one night, a la Before Sunrise (My third favourite movie of all time!). Get over to the Kickstarter page and give your support. They have 40 days left to get $5,000 otherwise they get none of the donations.

Kill List - Low budget British horror/action movie. Got some great reviews. Can't wait to catch it.

Drive - I know it came out this year, but so did most of the films that I have mentioned thus far. I never got a chance to see it when it came out and that really, really irks me.
P.S - I'd never written the word 'irks' before; I totally had to Google it to make sure that I spelt it correctly/used it in the right context. I did. It really irks me when I spell things wrong/don't use words in the right context and don't realise. See what I did there? I made an excuse to use the word again.

Anywho, I digress. Doesn't it irk you when people digress like that? ...Sorry, did it again. There are probably a shit load more films that I am looking forward to in 2012 that I just can't think of right now. However, the main thing that I am looking forward to is not a movie, but a TV show...

Californication Season 5 - Favourite TV show of all time. ALL.TIME. Luckily I don't have to wait long as it starts in January. Fuck, I wish I was Hank Moody.

I am also very much looking forward to seeing my man Henry Rollins perform spoken word live and in person, also in January. Damn, it looks like my year is really going to peak early. Is that a good or a bad thing? Fucked if I know.

See you in 2012, bitches.
