Every few years I seem to go through a phase in which I become completely obsessed with one particular band. A couple of years ago it was Death Cab for Cutie. I have every album, EP and B-side they have ever released. I have a playlist of all my favourite tracks that I would listen to, at least once a day, every day. If a day went by that I didn't listen to it, I would be signing their songs in my head all day anyway.
When I was a teenager I had a similar obsession with Eminem, after Eminem it was Jehst, now the band that I am currently obsessed with is Against Me! Same story: Every album, EP and B-side. Playlist. Songs constantly in my head.
After my love affair with Against Me! winds down and becomes less obsessive, I wonder which band I will move onto next?!?
Does this happen to anybody else or am I just a bit weird?
Nah, it's just you, some of us are with Linkin' Park for life (shudder)
ReplyDeleteI think I have to go with Xan here. When I get so obsessed with a band I usually end up loving them for life. I've been stuck on Matchbox 20 for years now (ever since I was 13).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I've tagged you in a post, for the 11 Things Meme (if you feel like it). Come check it out! :)

I tend to obsess over particular albums at a time, to the point where I listen to them so much in such a short span of time that it will forever remind me of that time. Though when I was in high school, you could always tell what band I was enthralled with at the time by the new patches I'd make and put on eeeeeeeeverything.
ReplyDeleteDidn't post this comment the first time I read though this, I've been this way a few times. Mostly in my younger years. I had all the B-sides, posters, patches and all of that for weezer. It was the same for Blink 182. Maybe it's just where I am now but my taste won't let me just focus on one band at a time...
ReplyDeleteNope, you're not the only one!
ReplyDeleteI get obsessed by a singer/band and listen to them non-stop for ages, then eventually get sick of them and start obsessing over another band/singer.
A few months ago, I loved The Script, now I love Ed Sheeran.
